Windows from Seillans

Now that autumn is here and it is foggy and rainy outside I think of the wonderful summer holiday we had this year. I think of the warm and colorful little villages in Provence with all the narrow streets and stone steps and old wooden doors and of course the windows. So to days post is summer memories from Provence, three different windows from the little village of Seillans.

Have a nice week!

Lavender fields – Valensole

A really beautiful place to visit when in Provence is Valensole. It must be one of the most photographed spots on earth. I guess you have seen beautiful photos of the large, dark purple lavender fields with a lonely tree or a stone cottage. It is an amazing spot with the color purple and the strong scent of lavender. I hope one day to go back and spend some more time in these fields and take some amazing photos. For now just enjoy my summer memory from the Lavender field in Valensole.

French butterflies

Spending two weeks in a large and beautiful garden I just had to hunt some butterflies to shoot. Not easy with a heavy 300 mm lens and fluttering butterflies to get a sharp picture…. Well, I tried my best and here are the result from my butterfly hunt.

Garden frogs

When we stayed at the french summerhouse we rented in St Paul en Foret we heard some strange noises. We thought it could be some big bird or something in one of the neighbor houses. Well, after a few days we found out that there were some frogs in the garden pond. These frogs was a natural target for my new 300 mm Nikkor lens the next days ;-). Enjoy some photos of frogs!

Cannes – Le Suquet

When in southern Provence or Cote d´Azur you have to take a little trip to Cannes too.

We went there on a hot and sunny day. We went to Le Suquet (old town) after a walk on Promenade de la Croisette. From Le Suquet you have a wonderful view over Cannes and the Mediterranean.

Todays post contains photos from Le Suquet.

Seillans – a little village in Provence

Seillans is a beautiful village in Provence about an hour drive from Grasse. The little village is a nice place for a photo safari. A lot of stone houses, narrow streets and a church from the 12th century. There are also two good restaurants worth a visit; Chez Hugo and La Glorie de mon Pere. Both restaurants have  very good food.

Here are some photos from my visit to Seillans:

Beautiful bugs (Jardin le Chesnaie)

In the french garden (Garden le Chesnaie, St Paul en Foret, France) there were a lot of flowers and were there are flowers there are also bugs, in this case two quite different bugs but very beautiful.

Jardin le Chesnaie, Provence

Our two weeks in Provence went so fast. Coming back home to Norway was ok but the norwegian summer is not comparable to the french summer, that´s for sure.

We rented a big house with a rather big garden (park). The house rested under some big oak trees, which made the garden quite cool even though the temperatures were about 39/40 degrees celsius during day time. And the pool of course was a good thing for 8 over heated norwegians 😉

With the big garden around the house there was a lot of exciting things to explore for a photograph with a passion for macro-photography.

This post contains some pictures of the house and garden in St. Paul en Foret. Later I will post more about what I found in the garden and there will also be posts with photos from some of the lovely villages in the area of south-France and Provence.

I hope you enjoy the photos from our summer holiday!

Mini trip to Amsterdam

I loved Amsterdam. It is a wonderful city and it is perfect for me because I am not very fond of going to different museums and other tourist attractions. My favorite thing to do is walking around and watch everyday life, relaxing on a little cafe and admire the architecture. Her are a few pictures from my mini trip to Amsterdam.
